Oriented Strand Board (OSB)

Oriented strand board (OSB) is an engineered wood product formed by layering strands of solid wood in specific orientations. 3 and 4 inch long strands of wood are combined to make each sheet of OSB. Strands, which are completely coated with a high performance resin glue, are overlapped and interlocked at a 90 degree angle by the manufacturing equipment, and then hot-pressed into panels. Depending on the resin used, OSB can be suitable for interior or exterior applications.

OSB is extensively used in residential and commercial construction applications for wall sheathing, floor underlayment, roof sheathing and I-joist. It has got strength and stiffness equivalent to plywood. On the other hand, it stands out as a more environmental friendly alternative to plywood, since it is manufactured from small diameter trees. OSB is highly workable. It's easy to saw, drill, nail, plane, file, glue, paint or sand. Under all types of exterior cladding, OSB provides extra thermal resistance and acoustic control. We provide different types of OSB for different applications. OSB with square or tongue-and-groove edges and OSB with Low-E insulation are available.
